Workflow Configuration for Time Away from Work

You can configure time away from work workflows to specify the stages that requests for time away must go through in your organization. For example, using a workflow, you could specify that two different levels of approval (such as from a team lead and a manager) must be reached before the request is considered approved. When configured to use workflows for time away from work, Dayforce links the existing buttons in Work > Time Away List and Approvals to the workflow and its associated forms.

To configure Dayforce to use workflows for time away from work, you must first create the necessary workflows following the steps described in Create Workflows and Workflow Node Properties.

For example, you might create four workflows: one for employees requesting time away from work, one for employees canceling time away from work, one for managers requesting time away from work, and one for managers canceling time away from work.

After you create the necessary workflows, you can enable Dayforce to use them for time away from work requests by doing the following:

  1. Associate the Time Away from Work Workflows with Forms
  2. Assign the Time Away from Work Workflows to Users
  3. Assign the Time Away from Work Workflow Role Features
  4. Enable Dayforce to Use Workflows for Time Away from Work
  5. Grant Users Access to Requests They Cannot Action
  6. Configure Actionable Messages for TAFW
