Worked Day Minutes Qualifier

Dayforce Implementation Guide

Version
R2025.1.1
Worked Day Minutes Qualifier

The Worked Day Minutes Qualifier checks to see how many minutes employees worked within a specified number of days. It limits entitlement rules to only run if the employee has worked a specified number of minutes, or optionally a consecutive number of days as well, within the past. The number of days Dayforce looks back is configurable.

For example, you can limit earning more balances to employees who have worked at least 20 hours in the last month by attaching the Worked Day Minutes Qualifier to the Award Balance Amount Rule and configuring the qualifier to look back 31 days for 20 hours.

Worked Day Minutes Qualifier settings
Setting Description
Invert Output

Using this checkbox, you can disqualify employees from entitlements when they are absent from work for a specified number of days in a given period. This allows you to award an entitlement to employees with perfect attendance by excluding anyone who was absent during the period.

Clear this checkbox and Dayforce awards entitlements for worked time that meets the criteria configured in the other settings. All other time is disqualified.

Select the checkbox and the reverse is true. Dayforce excludes any worked time that meets the criteria, and all other time is automatically qualified.

Number of periods to look back Enter the number of periods in the past that the qualifier examines for worked days or minutes. When the Invert Output checkbox is selected, this value represents the number of periods in the past that the qualifier should examine for unworked days. For example, if you want to award the entitlement based on attendance for two periods, enter 2.
Period Type Select a period type in the drop-down list and the qualifier accrues time worked to pay employees based on the period type. Time worked can be accrued based on calendar months, calendar years, days, months, weeks, or years.
Look back to the period start of this balance Select a balance in the drop-down list and the qualifier examines for worked days or minutes since the start of the balance period. This setting is alternative option that can be used instead of the Number of periods to look back setting.
Include Premiums Select this checkbox to count premiums as work when examining how many minutes employees worked.
Use Current Week

Select this checkbox to restrict the qualifier to look back only within the current week for worked minutes. If the qualifier checks for worked time midweek, say on Thursday, it will only examine back to the start of the week for worked time. Alternatively, if the qualifier’s checking at the end of the week, it will examine the full week for worked time.

Clear the checkbox and Dayforce uses the Number of periods to look back field to determine how many days in the past to examine for worked time.

Consecutive number of days worked Enter the number of consecutive days that employees must work to be eligible for the qualifier’s rule or level.
Number of days worked Enter the number of days employees must have worked in the prior period that Dayforce examines to be eligible for the qualifier’s rule or level. When the Invert Output checkbox is selected, this field refers to the number of days not worked. Enter the number of days that employees must have been absent during the look back period to be disqualified from the entitlement. For example, if employees are disqualified after missing one day of work, enter 1.
Number of worked minutes Enter the number of minutes employees must have worked in the prior period that Dayforce examines to be eligible for the qualifier’s rule or level.
Include current day Select this checkbox to configure the qualifier to examine the current day for worked minutes, and to count in against the Number of periods to look back threshold.
Allow non-consecutive work days Select this checkbox and the qualifier examines all worked days, even if they didn’t occur consecutively.
Pay Codes eligible Select which pay codes mark eligible work. The qualifier only considers eligible work when it calculates how many minutes or consecutive days an employee worked. This is used only when Worked Hours is selected in the Scale drop-down list. Leave blank and Dayforce doesn’t examine pay codes when determining eligible work.
Pay Codes not eligible Select the pay codes which mark ineligible time. Pay details with one of the selected pay codes don't count toward an employee’s worked time. Unpaid breaks and time off sick are common examples. Leave blank and Dayforce doesn’t examine pay codes when determining ineligible time.
Pay Categories eligible Select which pay categories mark eligible work. The qualifier only considers eligible work when it calculates how many minutes or consecutive days an employee worked. This is used only when Worked Hours is selected in the Scale drop-down list. Leave blank and Dayforce doesn’t examine pay categories when determining eligible work.
Pay Categories not eligible Select which pay categories mark ineligible time. Pay details with one of the selected pay categories don’t count toward an employee’s worked time. Leave blank and Dayforce doesn’t examine pay categories when determining ineligible time.
