Wage Qualifier

Dayforce Implementation Guide

Version

Wage Qualifier

This qualifier compares an employee’s two possible rates and triggers the associated rule when the qualifier’s conditions are met to pay the appropriate rate. Note the following when configuring this qualifier:

  • The average rate option within this qualifier is calculated for the week, not the day.
  • When this qualifier is configured with the FLSA Overtime Rule, the average rate option within the qualifier looks at the original rate, not the calculated rate.
  • This qualifier does its own calculation for the average rate for the week using the original rate. See Wage Qualifier Example.
Wage Qualifier settings
Setting Description
Set A rate type The rate type that Dayforce uses when paying premiums for set A (that is, the first possible rate): Base Rate, Minimum Wage, or Average/Regular Rate.
Set A multiplier value The multiplier that’s applied to the rate selected in the Set A rate type drop-down list. For example, to multiply minimum wage by time and a half, enter 1.5 in this field and select Minimum Wage in the Set A rate type drop-down list.
Comparison operator The operator that compares the sets: Equal, GreaterThan, GreaterThanOrEqual, LessThan, LessThanOrEqual, or NotEqual.
  • Set B rate type
The rate type that Dayforce uses when paying premiums for set B (that is, the second possible rate): Fixed Value, Base Rate, Minimum Wage, or Average/Regular Rate.
  • Set B multiplier value
The multiplier that’s applied to the rate selected in the Set B rate type drop-down list. If you selected Fixed Value in the Set B rate type field, leave this field blank.
  • Set B fixed value
The fixed value to compare with a rate type from Set A. If you selected Fixed Value in the Set B rate type drop-down list, specify the fixed value here. This allows you to compare a rate type from set A against a fixed value.
Minimum wage level

If you selected Minimum Wage from either of the rate type fields, specify which minimum wage rate to use: Country, State, City, or County.

If you selected Average/Regular Rate from either of the rate type fields, use the average/regular rate settings below to configure eligibility for the rate calculation.

Average/regular rate: pay code eligible
Average/regular rate: pay code ineligible
The pay codes that are eligible or ineligible for the defined rate.
Average/regular rate: pay category eligible
Average/regular rate: pay category ineligible
The pay categories are eligible or ineligible for the defined rate.
