The Notifications Tab

In the Notifications tab of Vacation Bidding Setup, you create notification records to inform your employees when their bidding rounds or bidding windows begin and end, and the status of their vacation requests. You do this by adding individual vacation bidding notifications to the notification record and customizing the notification’s text, subject line, and delivery schedule:

Notifications tab showing the General panel and the Messages section with notifications set.

The side panel shows all of the notification records configured for your organization.

The Notifications tab is divided into the following sections:

  • General: In this panel, you configure the notification record’s name, description, and reference code.
  • Messages: In this section, you configure the notifications that are associated with the notification record. You also configure the notifications’ customized text, subject line, and delivery schedule.

Name The notification record name.
Description A description for the notification record.
Reference Code A reference code for the notification record. This code must be unique and must not contain special characters.

The Messages section shows a list of the notifications that are configured for the notification record. You can click the arrow to expand a notification row. When the notification row is expanded, Dayforce opens the Notification Message and Notification Schedules tabs, where you customize the notification text and configure when the application sends the notification to employees:

Note: Depending on the notification that you’re configuring, the Notification Schedules tab might be grayed out and unavailable. This means that you can’t customize the notification’s scheduled delivery. The Notification Schedules tab is available only for notifications that inform employees about their bidding round or bidding window start and end dates. These include the Bidding Round Start, Bidding Round End, Bidding Window Start, and Bidding Window End notifications.

Number of Days / Number of Hours (required)

Dictates when Dayforce notifies employees about the start and end times of bidding rounds or bidding windows. The number you enter in this field differs depending on the notification you selected:

  • Bidding Round Start: The number of days before or after a bidding round starts that the notification is sent out.
  • Bidding Round End: The number of days before a bidding round ends that the notification is sent out.
  • Bidding Window Start: The number of hours before or after a bidding window starts that the notification is sent out.
  • Bidding Window End: The number of hours before a bidding window ends that the notification is sent out.

The number you enter is used in tandem with the option that you select in the Selection drop-down list to dictate the notification’s delivery schedule.

As described above, the Notification Schedules tab shows different labels and options depending on the notification that you’re configuring. Further, some notifications can’t be scheduled, so the Notification Schedules tab is grayed out when you select them.
