Mode

The calculation mode that controls the level of validation that Dayforce applies during LSL processing. The calculation option that you choose determines how the LSL engine evaluates some settings and fields in the LSL policy and how your configuration affects employee data. The calculation options are:

  • Legacy: This option represents the default processing logic that’s been available in Dayforce since LSL functionality was added. If you configured an LSL policy before 2025, this option is selected by default so that Dayforce processes LSL changes using the existing logic.
  • Enhanced Validation: This option applies additional processing logic and validation to improve the accuracy of the LSL entitlement dates that Dayforce calculates. This option useful in cases where a complicated policy configuration or ambiguous data results in no clear set of rules to apply.
  • Important: If you use this calculation method, you might need to:

    • Make configuration changes to your LSL policy to support enhanced validation. If you select this option in an existing policy and attempt to save your changes, the application might produce warnings that indicate which settings or fields aren’t compatible with enhanced validation.
    • Check the recalculation of existing employee eligibility dates due to processing differences with the legacy calculation method.

For more information about these calculation modes, see Calculation Modes.
