The Deferred Compensation Plans tab in Payroll Setup > Deferred Compensation and Pension Plans is divided into two main sections. On the left, there is a collapsible sidebar displaying a list of existing deferred compensation plans, as well as a Filter icon and a Collapse icon. On the right, there is the section displaying the selected deferred compensation plan.
The toolstrip contains the following buttons:
Save: Saves all changes to edited entries in the list.
Refresh: Refreshes the list.
Problems: Expands or collapses the Problems panel.
Add: Opens a blank record to be configured.
Copy: Copies the selected entry in the list as a new entry.
Delete: Deletes the selected entry in the list.
Localize: Opens a dialog box with the cultures your instance is configured to use.
You can click Filter to expand the filter section, which has two buttons: Add a Filter (which loads a dialog box with the choice Tax Method) and Reset to Default.
In the section to the right, the details about the selected plan, containing the four sections General, Plan Limit, Benefit Limit, and Compensation Limit, is displayed:

Description
General
Name
Required. Indicates the name of the deferred compensation plan.
Tax Method
Required. The selection you make from this drop-down list – which are the tax types set up in Payroll Setup > Earnings and Deductions – determines the available selections in other controls in the Plan Limit, Benefit Limit, and Compensation Limit sections.
Puerto Rico Plans
Only becomes active if you select a tax method that is mapped to Puerto Rico tax forms. When available, the options are:
Required. Drop-down list containing the following options:
Based on Birth Date: Applies the appropriate limits and includes birth date limit variables in the System Limits subsection in a table with four columns (Year, Limit Amount, Criteria, and Age).
Catch Up Only: Applies the appropriate limits and displays limits in the System Limits subsection in a table with two columns (Year and Limit Amount).
Limit with Catch-Up: Applies the appropriate limits and displays limits in the System Limits subsection in a table with two columns (Year and Limit Amount).
Also loads the Lookup Type (Deduction) and Lookup Type (Earning) drop-down lists.
Plan Limit: Applies the appropriate limits and displays limits in the System Limits subsection in a table with two columns (Year and Limit Amount).
System Limits (appears in all Limit sections)
Displayed if any choice except Do Not Apply This Limit is selected in the Limit Option drop-down list. Table contents depend on which option is selected. The limits displayed are determined by the tax method selected in the Tax Method drop-down list in the General section.
Lookup Type (Deduction)
Required. Drop-down list containing the following options:
Deduction: Select this to load the Deduction drop-down list with its respective contents.
Deduction Grouping: Select this to load the Deduction Grouping drop-down list with its respective contents.

Benefit Limit
Limit Option
Required. This drop-down list has four options:
Apply Limit: Applies the appropriate limit and displays limits in table with two columns (Year and Limit Amount) table the System Limits subsection.
Also loads the Lookup Type (Deduction) and Lookup Type (Earning) drop-down lists.
