This rule ensures that shifts after a planned day off can’t start before the start time of the employee’s last shift. For example, if an employee works from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Monday and takes Tuesday off, you can use this rule to ensure that their Wednesday shift doesn’t start before 9:00 AM.

Example
An organization has a schedule rule policy with the Start Shift Day Off Rule configured as follows:
- Day Off is selected in the Included TAFW Pay Codes drop-down list.
- Sick is selected in the Excluded TAFW Pay Codes drop-down list.
- Error is selected in the Severity drop-down list.
You schedule an employee to work a shift on Tuesday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. On Wednesday, they have a scheduled day off. With this configuration, if you schedule the employee to work a shift starting at 8:00 AM on Thursday, Dayforce shows an error message in the Problems panel.
However, if the employee works from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Friday, and takes a sick day on Saturday, there’s no restriction on the start time of the employee’s Sunday shift, because the rule excludes sick days.
