Before You Begin: This guide describes how to configure pay rules and entitlements in Dayforce to help your organization comply with sick leave legislation for your city/state. It’s designed to outline the steps required to implement sick pay for your employees in a general sense. It doesn’t offer any specific configuration options catered to meet your city or state’s sick pay requirements. This guide is for administrators who have experience configuring entitlements in Dayforce. See Entitlements.
At a high level, configuring sick pay in Dayforce consists of the following processes:
- Configuring Balances
- Configuring Recurrences
- Configuring Entitlements
- Creating Entitlement Policies
- (Optional) Configuring WFM pay rules to pay used sick time at an average rate
Entitlements are used to control how employees earn balances that represent their sick leave benefits. Entitlement policies are made up of several components that describe:
- When, or at what frequency, employees earn more sick time. For example, you can configure that employees earn sick time at the start of the year. This is referred to as an entitlement’s recurrence, which you configure and assign in Pay Setup > Entitlements.
- How often benefits are paid out or reduced. For example, you can configure that at the start of every year, employees can only carry over a balance of 40 hours of sick pay. This is referred to as the rollover recurrence.
- How much sick pay can be earned or used in an annual period.
