Schedule the Job Step Rate Background Jobs

To implement job step rates, you must schedule the following background jobs:

  • Aggregate Job Step Rate Transactions
  • Job Step Rate Recalc

Aggregate Job Step Rate Transactions

This background job converts job step rate transactions to monthly records over the specified period that the job runs for.

Important: This job should be scheduled to run at least monthly and should run before the Job Step Rate Recalc background job runs.

By default, the task aggregates the period starting at the first of the previous month to the first of the current month. However, you can configure it to aggregate a different month or a number of different months. See Aggregate Job Step Rate Transactions.

Job Step Rate Recalc

This background job uses the rules configured in the job step policies to calculate employees’ job step rates. As best practice, this background job should be scheduled to run daily. By default, the background job runs for the current pay period. However, you can configure it to look back or forward a certain number of weeks.

The Job Step Rate Recalc background job recalculates the job set levels to be assigned to employees, but it doesn’t initiate a recalculation of the employee’s actual pay. You should run a pay summary recalc after you run the Job Step Rate Recalc background job to apply the new job rates to the employee's time and pay adjustment data.

There might be cases where you want to see the effect of the change more immediately (for example, when a consultant configures a new instance). In these cases, remember to run this background job and then recalculate pay to see the effect of job rate changes, using either the Pay Summary Recalc background job or by editing a timesheet on pay data reloaded following the job rate recalculation.

Important: The Job Step Rate Recalc background job should run and complete before you run the Pay Summary Recalc background job.

See Job Step Rate Recalc.
