Schedule Rule Policies

Schedule rule policies influence how you can schedule employees, and the severity of violating different scheduling policies. You configure schedule rule policies in Schedule SetupSchedule Rule Policy.

Role feature access: Schedule Setup > Schedule Setup > Schedule Rule Policy

Schedule rule policies rely on the rules and qualifiers that you assign to them, and the values and configuration of each. You need to add and configure rules and qualifiers to each policy.

For example, you can configure Dayforce to apply rules on how many days per week or hours per day an employee can be scheduled. When managers, supervisors, or other users create schedules, Dayforce automatically applies the configured rules in each employee’s policy and alerts the user when a rule is violated.

You can apply qualifiers to individual rules or to the entire policy itself, which describe when or under what conditions they take effect. For example, say that you can schedule employees up to nine hours a day, but on public holidays you can schedule them only six. To implement this, add two instances of the Daily Hours Rule to schedule rule policy: one that applies on regular workdays with no qualifiers, and another with the Is Holiday Qualifier added to the rule, so that it’s effective only on holidays.
