Schedule Review Cycles and Review Steps

In the Review Schedule tab of the Review Cycles tab in Performance Setup > Review Setup, you can define the review period (the period for which goals, competencies, and development plans are pulled into the review), the assignment date, and add review steps to review cycles. The fields that are available change depending on the type of review that you’re configuring.

The steps for scheduling each review type are explained in the following sections:

Notes:

  • If the review cycle doesn’t include a self-review step and only includes a manager review, then the review isn’t displayed in the Reviews or Overview tabs for the employee until the review enters the employee signature step (after the manager submits the manager review).
  • If the review cycle has neither the self-review or employee signature step, the review is never displayed in the Overview tab or Reviews tab for the employee, and only the manager can access the review. At the end of the review process, the manager can print out the review and provide it to the employee. Conversely, managers have full access to the review process. For example, if the review only includes a self-review, they can still access the employee's review.
  • The Start Date of the employee or manager signature cannot be prior to the employee and manager review steps.
  • You can configure the manager review to start before the employee review.
  • You can configure steps to occur outside of the review cycle. For example, the employee and manager review for a 2019 review cycle can start at the beginning of 2020.
  • If step dates start on the same date, the system follows the following default priority sequence of 1-employee review, 2-manager review, 3-employee signature, and 4-manager signature.
  • Employees and managers can open, work on, and submit their reviews even if the due date has already passed.
