Schedule Options for Background Jobs

You can schedule background jobs to run at regular intervals, either on an ongoing basis, or for a specified period of time. When you run most background jobs, Dayforce opens a Schedule <Background Job> dialog box, such as Schedule Accrual Export:

There are three tabs in the background job schedule wizard: Job Parameters, Schedule, and Confirmation. The contents of the Job Parameters tab are the same as those that appear in the run background job dialog box. See individual background jobs for these settings.

The Schedule tab contains the following options:

  • Hourly
  • Daily
  • Weekly
  • Monthly
  • Dayforce Calendar

The settings for each of these options are described below.

Settings in the Schedule tab
Setting Description
Hourly Sets the hourly option. In the Every drop-down list, specify how frequently Dayforce runs the background job within an hour (every hour, every 10 minutes, every 15 minutes, or every 30 minutes). You can also specify an effective from date and time and, optionally, an effective to date and time.
Daily Sets the daily option. In the Start Time drop-down list, specify how frequently Dayforce runs the background job. Select one or more top-of-the-hour AM or PM times or, to run the background each of the 24 hours in a day, select the Every hour checkbox. You can enter a number up to 59 in the Minutes Offset field to offset the background job’s start time, and you can set the Effective From date and time and, optionally, an Effective To date and time.
Weekly

Sets the weekly option. In the Day(s) section, specify how frequently Dayforce runs the background job. Then, select one or more top-of-the-hour AM or PM times in the Start Time drop-down list. To run the background each of the 24 hours in a day, select the Every hour checkbox.

You can also configure the following settings:

  • Minutes Offset: Enter a number up to 59 to offset the background job’s start time.
  • Recurrence: Specify the number of times that you want the background job to run.

Finally, you can set the Effective From date and time and, optionally, an Effective To date and time.

Monthly

Sets the monthly option. In the Start Time drop-down list, specify how frequently Dayforce runs the background job. Select one or more top-of-the-hour AM or PM times or, to run the background each of the 24 hours in a day, select the Every hour checkbox.

You can also configure the following settings:

  • Minutes Offset: Enter a number up to 59 to offset the background job’s start time.
  • Recurrence: Specify how often you want Dayforce to run the background job.
  • Day of Month: Specify the day of the month that you want Dayforce to run the background job.
  • Important: If you select a day that isn’t shared by all months, Dayforce silently ignores that day if a particular month doesn't have it. For example, if you select 30, Dayforce ignores that day in February because February usually has only 28 days.

Finally, you can set the Effective From date and time and, optionally, an Effective To date and time.

Dayforce Calendar

Sets the Dayforce Calendar option. In the Choose From Existing Dayforce Calendars drop-down list, select the Pay Group Calendar option. The following settings are shown:

  • Pay Group: Select the pay group that you want to use the pay group calendar for.
  • Calendar date type: Select the type of date in the calendar that Dayforce should run the background job on such as the period start date
  • Offset (in days): Enter the number of days there should be an offset from the date specified in the Calendar date type drop-down list. You can enter both negative and positive values.
  • Time of day: Enter the time of day that Dayforce runs the job at. Note that this setting overrides the time for the schedule run.
