Dayforce runs mapping rules in the order defined in the left panel of HR Admin > Employee Data Mapping Rules. In some cases, employees can qualify for more than one rule that attempts to update the same value in the employee record. If this occurs, Dayforce applies the value defined in the last rule in the list that the employee qualifies for.
For example, the list includes Rule A that assigns 40 average weekly hours to full-time, hourly employees. Below it in the list, Rule B assigns 35 average weekly hours to employees who work the Driver job. If an employee is hired as full-time, hourly, and for the Driver job, they qualify for both rules. However, because Rule B is lower in the list, it runs last and the employee is assigned 35 average weekly hours.
While it’s a best practice to avoid conflicting rules, you can change the order of a rule by selecting it in the list and clicking the move up icon () or move down icon (
) and then saving. For example, if you move Rule B above Rule A, the employee is assigned 40 average weekly hours instead of 35.
