You can create two or more balances to account for policies that require a probation period for accessing accrued time. When an employee is in their probationary period, they accrue earned time in a restricted-access balance. At the end of the probationary period, Dayforce moves the accrued amount into a second balance that has unrestricted access.

To configure a restricted sick balance:
- Go to Pay Setup > Balances and click the Balances tab.
- Click Add.
- Enter a name and a description for the balance.
- In the Options section in the Units drop-down list, select the unit your organization uses to measure the balance.
- Select the Access Restricted checkbox.
- Select the Print Current Accrued on Payroll checkbox if the time accrued during the probationary period should be shown on earning statements.
- Make sure that there are no pay adjustment codes assigned in the Pay Adjustments section.
- Click Save.
