This section covers the problem validation messages that you can configure Dayforce to show in the Problems panel of timesheet features if an error or warning occurs in relation to a shift, transfer, or time entry. These settings are available in Pay Setup > Time Entry Policy in the Problem Configuration tab.
For example, you could configure a time entry policy so that it verifies that employees’ selected jobs are valid for the shifts in which they were recorded.

Balance | There is a balance error with the associated shift. |
Bio Failure | The bio verification failed for the associated clock entry. |
Break Should not be Attested by Employee | The employee attested a break that they didn’t miss, or the employee doesn’t have the authorization to attest that shift. |
Break Should not be Attested by Manager | The manager attested a break that an employee didn’t miss, or the manager doesn’t have the authorization to attest that shift. |
Code Not Valid For Shift | The pay code is invalid for the shift to which it applies. |
Code Not Valid For Transfer | The pay code is invalid for the transfer to which it applies. |
Docket Not Valid For Pay Adjustment | The docket is invalid for the pay adjustment to which it applies. |
Docket Not Valid For Shift Org | The docket is invalid for the org unit to which the shift applies. |
Docket Not Valid For Transfer Org | The docket is invalid for the org unit to which the transfer applies. |
Docket Quantity Not Valid For Shift | The docket quantity is invalid for the shift to which it applies. |
Docket Quantity Not Valid For Transfer | The docket quantity is invalid for the transfer to which it applies. |
Employee attested to zero number of breaks taken | An employee has attested to missing a break and the number of breaks taken is zero. |
Empty Transfer | A transfer was created with duplicate labor metrics to the existing shift. |
Exceeded Daily Meal Subsidies Allowance | An employee recorded more meal subsidies in a day than they’re entitled to in their time entry policy. |
Exception | The shift, meal, or break has tardies with pay codes that were configured as exceptions. |
Facial Verification Failure | Facial verification failed for the associated clock entry. |
Incorrect Meal Subsidies Pay Amount | An employee manually recorded a meal subsidy in the timesheet with the wrong amount specified. |
Invalid Labor Metrics Code Assignment | The labor metrics code assignment associated with the shift is invalid. |
Invalid Labor Metrics Type | The labor metrics type associated with the shift is invalid. |
Job Not Valid For Pay Adjustment | The job recorded is invalid for the pay adjustment to which it applies. |
Job Not Valid For Shift | The job recorded is invalid for the shift to which it applies. |
Job Not Valid For Transfer | The job recorded is invalid for the transfer to which it applies. |
Labor Metrics Code Expired | The labor metrics code associated with the shift has expired. |
Long Meal or Break | The employee has taken a longer meal or break than was scheduled. |
Long Shift | The employee has worked a longer shift than scheduled. |
Meal Not Waived | The employee didn’t take a meal or break and didn’t waive it. |
Meal or Break Needs a Time | The meal or break has either no start time or no end time. |
Meal or Break Outside of Shift | The meal/break starts after the associated shift ends, or ends before the shift starts. |
Meal or Break Overlaps | A single employee has two meals or breaks that overlap with one another. |
Meal or Break Starts After it Ends | The start meal clock entry (or scheduled start) for the meal or break exists after the end meal clock entry (or scheduled end). |
Meal Should Not Be Waived By Employee | The problem meal was waived by an employee, but didn’t qualify for meal waiving based on time entry policy settings. |
Meal Should Not Be Waived By Manager | The problem meal was waived by a manager, but didn’t qualify for meal waiving based on time entry policy settings. |
Missing Time Entry | The employee is missing a time entry. They might have forgotten to clock in or out for a shift, meal or break. |
Org Not Valid for Pay Adjustment | The org unit is invalid for the pay adjustment to which it applies. |
Org Not Valid for Shift | The org unit is invalid for the shift to which it applies. |
Org Not Valid for Transfer | The org unit is invalid for the transfer to which it applies. |
Pay Adjustment = 0 Is Not Valid | A pay adjustment with a value of zero isn’t valid for the shift to which it applies. |
Pay Adjustment amount limit exceeded | The pay adjustment amount has exceeded the defined limit. |
Pay Adjustment minutes limit exceeded | The pay adjustment minutes have exceeded the defined limit. |
Pay Adjustment Without Project Assigned | The pay adjustment was assigned without a project. |
Pay Code Not Valid for Pay Adjustment | The pay code is invalid for the pay adjustment to which it applies. |
Period Dates Not Valid For Pay Adjustment | The period start and end dates for the pay adjustment are invalid. |
Project Not Valid for Pay Adjustment | The project is invalid for the pay adjustment to which it applies. |
Project Not Valid for Shift | The project is invalid for the shift to which it applies. |

Shift Without Project Assigned | A shift was assigned without a project. |
Time Entry After Termination | The employee has time entries occurring after their termination date. |
Tip Type Not Valid For Shift or Transfer(s) | The tip type is invalid for the shift or transfer to which it applies. |
Transfer Balance | There is a balance error in the associated transfer. |
Transfer Outside of Shift | There is a transfer that starts before the associated shift begins, or after it ends. |
Transfer Without Project Assigned | A transfer was assigned without a project. |
Transfers Conflict | There are multiple transfers for a single shift with duplicate start times, but they aren’t identical. |
