Performance Subfeatures

Competencies: Enables the Competencies tab of Performance

  • All Competencies: Enables the All Competencies tab of Performance > Competencies, which allows users to see all of the current competencies in your organization by default. The main function of this tab is to allow managers to browse their organization's competency library and manually assign competencies to their employees.
  • Typically, you only enable the All Competencies tab for managers that are also assigned the Assign Competencies role feature, which is described below. If you don't grant managers the ability to assign competencies to employees, it can mean one of the following:
    • During configuration, you configured job-based competencies. This means all of the employees of the manager are already assigned a set of competencies based on their job. Your organization might not allow managers to manually assign more competencies to employees in addition to the job-based ones already assigned.
    • You might only allow certain managers or administrators to manually assign competencies to employees.
  • Moreover, you wouldn’t typically enable the All Competencies tab for employee roles. If you do so, they can only browse competencies. They can't assign competencies or see information about any other employees assigned to competencies.
  • Assign Competencies: Enables the following:
    • The Assign Employee(s) button in the All Competencies tab of Performance > Competencies.
    • The Assign Competencies button in the Team Competencies tab of Performance > Competencies.
    • The Assign Employee(s) and Unassign Selected buttons in the competency slide-out panel under the All Competencies tab of Performance > Competencies.
    • The Assign Competencies and Unassign Competencies buttons of the employee slide-out panel in the Team Competencies tab of Performance > Competencies.
  • Note: You only enable the Assign Competencies role feature for manager and administrator roles.
  • My Competencies: Enables the My Competencies tab of Performance > Competencies, which allows users to work on their own competencies. You assign this tab to all end users of Performance. It is the main competency screen for employees.
  • Also enables the Competencies section in the Overview tab of Performance.
  • Team Competencies: Enables the Team Competencies tab of Performance > Competencies, which only shows competencies of the employees to whom a user has access.
  • Note: You only enable the Team Competencies role feature for managers and administrators, and not employees.

Conversations: Enables the Conversations tab of Performance, which allows users to view conversations and activities related to goals and competencies. The Conversations tab is a personal screen and doesn't allow managers to access goals, competencies, and reviews of their employees.

  • Allow "All Their Managers" Visibility Option: Enables the Tagged People + All Their Managers option in the Display to drop-down list, which is shown to employees when they create conversation posts in Performance. This feature allows users to post conversations that are visible to both direct and indirect managers of the author and tagged employees.
  • Allow Public Conversations: Enables the Everyone option in the Display to drop-down list, which is displayed to employees when they create conversation posts in Performance. This feature allows users to post their conversations publicly.
  • Note: The Allow Public Conversations feature isn’t automatically assigned to any user roles. If you want to authorize a specific user role to create public conversation posts, you must assign the subfeature to that role.

Goals: Enables the Goals tab of Performance.

  • Align Goal: Enables the following:
    • The Align button when you expand a goal panel.
    • The Unalign Goal option in the goal actions drop-down list.
  • The align goal feature allows you to align existing personal goals to other goals in the organization.
  • Note: You typically enable the Align Goals role feature for employee, manager, and administrator roles.
  • Align to Organizational Goal: Enables access to organizational goals in the Select a goal to align dialog box and enables the Organizational option in the Goal Type drop-down list of the dialog box.
  • Assign Goals: Enables the following:
    • The Assign Employee(s) and Unassign options in the goal actions drop-down list.
    • The Assign Employee(s) and Unassign Selected buttons in the assigned employee slide-out panel (opened from the Organizational Goals tab).
  • Note: You only enable the Assign Goals role feature for manager and administrator roles.
  • Create Aligned Goal: Enables the Create Aligned Goal option in the goal action list, which allows you to create aligned child goals.
  • Create Organizational Goal: Enables the following
    • The Is it an organizational Goal? checkbox in the goal creation forms of Performance > Goals, which allows users to identify a goal as organizational.
    • The Add Org Goal button in the Organizational Goals tab of Performance > Goals.
  • When the Organizational Goals tab is assigned to employees, they also have access to all organizational goals which they can align to their personal goals.
  • Note: You typically only enable this role feature for certain manager and administrator roles.
  • Create Unaligned Goal: Enables the Add Goal button in the Team Goals and My Goals tabs of Performance > Goals. This role feature allows users to create standard goals, and is typically enabled for employees, managers, and administrators.
  • Draft Goals: Adds the Draft Goals subtab to Performance > Goals and allows you to create and save goals without assigning them to any users.
  • Localize: Enables the ability to define localizations for the culture settings to which you have access in the goal creation forms of Performance > Goals.
  • My Goals: Enables the My Goals tab of Performance > Goals. You assign this tab to all end users of Performance. It is the main goal management screen for employees. Also enables the Goals section in the Overview tab of Performance.
  • Organizational Goals: Enables the Organizational Goals tab of Performance > Goals, which allows users to see all organizational goals.
  • Share Goal: Enables the Share option in the goal actions drop-down list.
  • Team Goals: Enables the Team Goals tab of Performance > Goals, which only displays goals of the employees to whom a user has access and a user's own goals.
  • Note: You only enable the Team Goals role feature for managers and administrators, and not employees.

Overview: Enables the Overview tab of Performance, which is where employees can view information about their own reviews, competencies, goals, and conversations. The Overview tab is a personal screen and doesn't allow managers to access goals, competencies, and reviews of their employees.

In order to use the Overview tab, a role must also have the My Summary role feature enabled.

Moreover, in order for users to have access to individual sections in the Overview tab, their role must have access to the following corresponding features:

  • The Reviews section requires access to the My Reviews tab of Performance > Reviews.
  • The Goals section requires access to the My Goals tab of Performance > Goals.
  • The Competencies section requires access to the My Competencies tab of Performance > Competencies.
  • The Conversations section requires access to the Conversations tab of Performance.

For example, if a user has access to the Team Goals and Organizational Goals tabs of Performance > Goals, but not to the My Goals tab, Dayforce doesn't display the Goals section in the Overview tab. The Goals section in the Overview tab, as in the My Goals tab, is only intended for displaying your goals, not goals assigned to your team.

Reviews: Enables the Reviews tab of Performance.

  • Add Development Plan: Enables the Add button in the Development Plan section of performance review forms. This button allows users to create development plans directly from the review form.
  • My Reviews: Enables the My Reviews tab of Performance > Reviews, which allows employees to work on current reviews and access previous reviews.
  • Peer Reviews: Enables the Peer Reviews tab of Performance > Reviews, which allows employees to access peer reviews that they’ve been invited to complete.
  • Team Reviews: Enables the Team Reviews tab of Performance > Reviews, which allows managers and administrators to work on reviews of their employees and access past reviews.
  • Note: You only enable the Team Reviews role feature for managers and administrators, and not employees.
