Partial Time Away Configuration

Dayforce supports partial-day time away where employees can request time away for a specific duration of a day. If your organization uses hourly balance units for TAFW, you can configure this functionality in your time off policy in Time Away From WorkTime Off Policy in the Duration section, using these settings:

  • Allow only all day
  • Elapsed Time only
  • Show part day selection

See Duration Settings.

However, Dayforce also supports partial time away, which differs from the partial-day time away that you configure in the Duration section. Partial time away functionality allows organizations to separate days into specific segments that employees can request for time away. For example, you can set partial TAFW so that employees can request time away only for three specific segments in a workday:

  • Morning (9:00 AM to 12:00 PM)
  • Afternoon (12:00 PM to 3:00 PM)
  • Late afternoon (3:00 PM to 6:00 PM)

You can set up Dayforce so that employees can request time away only for a segment of a day. You can also set up Dayforce so that it supports all-day, partial-day, or half-day TAFW for employees in addition to TAFW for day segments.

Partial time away functionality is useful if your organization uses daily balances for TAFW rather than hourly balances.

To configure TAFW for specific portions of your organization’s workday, you must do the following:

Optionally, you can also configure reason codes and schedule instructions for this type of partial TAFW:

Note:

  • You can also apply some of this functionality to configurations that use standard, full-day TAFW or partial-day TAFW with hourly balances.
  • At this time, partial TAFW with daily balances is available only when users request time away from work in the web (that is, non-mobile) version of Dayforce.
