Overview of the Garnishments Screen for US Employees

When you open the Payroll > Garnishments screen of People for a US employee, Dayforce shows a list of the employee's active garnishment records, if any. Active garnishments have a current or future effective date in the Effective From column and the checkbox selected in the Active column.

For more information on accessing the Garnishments screen, see The People Feature.

Only primary garnishment records are included in this list. The list also includes garnishment orders for arrears and fees that are associated with a primary garnishment order, which are nested within the details of the primary garnishment order.

You can select the checkbox next to the garnishment's name to select it. You can select one or more garnishments to perform actions on, such as delete or copy.

You can select the checkbox in the Active column to activate or deactivate a garnishment from being calculated. All of the other columns of the garnishment record are read-only.

You can click the garnishment record to expand and manage its details and click it again to collapse it. Dayforce shows a set of tabs for managing the garnishment, as illustrated in the following screenshot:

The tabs of a US garnishment order are described as follows:

Disposable Income Define whether certain deductions or earnings are excluded from the garnishment calculation
Arrears Create and manage garnishment records for arrears that are associated with the garnishment order. This tab is only enabled for garnishments that allow arrears. See Garnishment Arrears for US Employees.

See Held Garnishments for US Employees.
