Org Setup Import and Export Configuration

You can import and export records in the CSV file format in the following areas of Org Setup:

  • The Jobs and Job Assignments, Pay Grades, Position Term, Employment Indicator tabs in the Jobs and Job Assignments subfeature.
  • The Departments tab in the Organization subfeature.
  • The Docket subfeature. If your organization has over 1,000 docket records, you can't import dockets from the Docket subfeature and must instead use the Docket Import interface specification. See the Dayforce Docket Import Specification document.

Before You Begin: The ability to import and export in each area is controlled by role features in the Features tab of System Admin > Roles. For example, to import and export records in Org Setup > Docket, your role must be assigned the Import/Export role feature under Org Setup > Org Setup > Docket.

Importing and exporting provides an alternative to manually adding or updating values in the user interface and is especially useful when you work with a large number of items.

With this functionality, you can generate an export file that acts as a template, containing all of the fields for the records you want to add. Any existing records are also included in the file so that you can update them if needed. When you're done making updates and additions to the file, you can import it back to Dayforce to update the system.

Using the import process, you can add or edit records but not delete records (for example, individual jobs). If you import a set of records that omits an existing record, the existing record isn’t affected (that is, it isn't deleted).
