You can use the Operator Qualifier to create a complex qualification for a rule in your Shift Marketplace location group. Using the Operator Qualifier, you can configure specific conditions with operators that determine which combinations of job assignments, pay types, pay groups, and pay classes qualify a location group rule to run.
After you add a qualifier to a rule in the Rules Configuration section and select Operator Qualifier in the Type drop-down list, Dayforce shows a toolstrip containing operator options above a blank hierarchy:
The following operators are available to configure complex conditions for rule qualification:
- And: The rule must meet the criteria of all of the qualifiers under the operator to qualify.
- Or: The rule has to meet only the criteria of one of the qualifiers under the operator to qualify.
- Not: The rule must not meet the criteria of any of the qualifiers under the operator to qualify.
Important: The And and Or operators require at least two qualifiers nested below them. Also, you must structure your hierarchy and operators in a logical way.
Click one of the operators to begin building your conditional hierarchy. After you add an operator, the Add button becomes available. Click Add and select one of the qualifiers to create a condition. Dayforce marks each qualifier with an icon:

The settings for these qualifiers are identical when added under the Operator Qualifier or when added individually in your location group ruleset hierarchy. For more information about the settings for these qualifiers, see:
Example
An organization needs a complex ruleset hierarchy to support the following job assignment requirements for Shift Marketplace:
- The Cashier job assignment can be shared between Stores 320 and 355. Employees with this job assignment should be able to pick up shifts at either location.
- All employees with this Cashier job assignment should be able to pick up shifts at these locations, except for employees that are assigned to the Salaried - North District or Salaried - East District pay groups.
To support this requirement, the organization can configure a location group with Store 320 and Store 355 selected in the Sharing Organization field. Further, the organization can configure the location group’s ruleset hierarchy with the Job Assignment Rule and the Operator Qualifier (configured with the Not operator) nested below it:
The rule and qualifier were configured so that Dayforce considers the Cashier job assignment valid for Shift Marketplace only when it’s not associated with the Salaried - North District and Salaried - East District pay groups.
