Max Duration Between Meals/Breaks Rule

This rule defines the maximum amount of time that you can schedule employees to work without a scheduled meal.

Max Duration Between Meals/Breaks Rule settings
Setting Description
Max duration between meals The number of hours that you can schedule an employee before they require a meal or break.
Severity

The response to a violation:

  • Critical: You can’t save or post the schedule.
  • Error: You can save the schedule, but you can’t post it.
  • Informational: You’re alerted to the problem, but no action is required.
  • Warning: You’re alerted to the problem, but you can still save the schedule.

Example

Employees can work a maximum of two activities per shift. You should receive a warning if your schedules don’t meet this requirement.

To configure the rule for this example:

  1. In the Max # activity segments per shift field, enter 2.
  2. In the Severity drop-down list, select Warning.

With this configuration, if you schedule an employee to work more than two activities per shift, Dayforce shows a warning message in the Problems panel.
