Max Activity Segments Per Shift Rule

This rule defines the maximum number of activities that employees can work each shift.

Max # activity segments per shift The maximum number of activities that employees can work per shift.
Severity

The response to a maximum threshold violation:

  • Critical: You can’t save or post the schedule.
  • Error: You can save the schedule, but you can’t post it.
  • Informational: You’re alerted to the problem, but no action is required.
  • Warning: You’re alerted to the problem, but you can still save the schedule.

The positions that the rule includes or excludes.

Note: If you don’t make any selections, the rule applies to all departments, jobs, positions, and activities.

Example

Employees can work a maximum of two activities per shift. You should receive a warning if your schedules don’t meet this requirement.

To configure the rule for this example:

  1. In the Max # activity segments per shift field, enter 2.
  2. In the Severity drop-down list, click Warning.

With this configuration, if you schedule employees to work more than two activities per shift, Dayforce shows a warning message in the Problems panel.
