In the event of a filing failure (for example, due to network issues), users with necessary access can run the HMRC EPS/FPS Submission background job independently of payroll commit, in System Admin > Background Jobs. Manually running this job is only for the actual submission to HMRC rather than production of the files, because these have already been produced from the pay run commit (FPS file) or submission (EPS file).
To run the HMRC GovTalk Submission background job manually:
- Go to System Admin > Background Jobs.
- Click the HMRC GovTalk Submission background job.
- Click Run. The Run HMRC GovTalk Submission dialog box opens.
- Select the options that you want to apply.
- Click Run.
- (Optional) Verify the job results in the Job Logs tab.
After the HMRC GovTalk Submission background job runs, either as part of committing payroll or running it manually, you can view results of the background job in System Admin > Background Jobs in the Background Task Log tab. Information about whether or not the background job ran correctly and whether the RTI filing information was received by HMRC can be viewed for a particular entry by expanding the entry and viewing the Job Information tab. If the background job does not run correctly, this tab contains error and other information that you can use when contacting Support.
For more information about this background job, see HMRC GovTalk Submission.
