Long Service Leave Eligibility Date Qualifier

The Long Service Leave Eligibility Date Qualifier examines whether a Long Service Leave (LSL) eligibility date is contained within an evaluation period. When the qualifier detects an LSL eligibility date in its evaluation period, the employee becomes eligible for the entitlement rule associated with the qualifier.

Before You Begin: This qualifier functions only for organizations in Australia and New Zealand.

Long Service Leave Eligibility Date Qualifier settings
Setting Description
Period Type Select the type of period that you want the qualifier to examine. You can set the qualifier to look at periods in the past or future. The options are Look Ahead and Look Back.
Period
Period Unit

Use these settings to configure the length and unit of the period that the qualifier examines.

In the Period field, enter the length of the lookback or look-ahead period.

In the Period Unit drop-down list, select the period unit for the value you specified in the Period field. The options are Days, Months, Weeks, and Years.

Always Qualify after the number of LSL Anniversary dates

Enter the number of LSL anniversary (that is, eligibility) dates that employees must meet to qualify for the associated entitlement.

For example, consider an LSL policy with the following eligibility configuration:

  • Continuous Years Required for Initial Entitlement: 10
  • Continuous Years Required after Initial Entitlement: 5

If you enter 2 in this field, employees qualify for the associated entitlement only after they reach their second LSL anniversary (that is, after 15 years of continuous employment). If you enter 3, employees qualify only when they reach their third LSL anniversary after 20 years of continuous employment.

This setting functions only when your LSL policy allows employees to continue accruing LSL balances after they reach their LSL eligibility date. That is, your policy must have the Continuous Years Required after Initial Entitlement field set with a value. See Configure Long Service Leave Policies.

Never Qualify before the number of LSL Anniversary dates

Enter the minimum number of LSL anniversary dates that employees must reach before they qualify for the associated entitlement rule.

This value must be less than or equal to the value in the Always Qualify after the number of LSL Anniversary dates field, if configured.

Invert Output By default, this checkbox is cleared and employees qualify for the associated entitlement when they meet the criteria configured in the qualifier’s settings. When this checkbox is selected, the reverse is true and employees who meet the criteria are disqualified instead.
