Leave Projection

In Dayforce, leave projection is the ability to forecast how an employee will accrue a time away from work (TAFW) balance over time. You can set up Dayforce to use an employee’s average daily hours, normal weekly hours, or historical weekly hours to calculate an estimate of the balance total that they’ll accrue between the current date and a future date.

To use leave projection in Dayforce, you need to configure dedicated balances for projection. These projection balances won’t act as typical balances from which employees draw vacation time. Rather, these balances inform employees of their projected balance totals for dates in the future.

Before You Begin: In Dayforce, you can configure different units of time for TAFW balances, such as hours, days, or weeks. This section only covers how to configure Dayforce to track hourly balances for leave projection. For information about configuring daily or weekly balances, see Daily and Weekly Time Away Balances.

To configure leave projection, you must:

After you set up this functionality, employees can view their projected balances when they request time away and review their balances. See View Projected Balances.
