KPIs are sets of data stored in Dayforce and used in the calculations involved in the planning process and implementation. They are used to track information in the system, such as sales, traffic, or any other measurable indicator used in your organization’s planning process. The results of these calculations are displayed in the cells generated and viewed in the Plan feature, which can be thought of as a spreadsheet of information on your organization’s KPIs. A KPI is a label for a set of data displayed in these cells, and KPI metadata can be likened to the formulas used in spreadsheet calculations to define the relationships between the cells.
Dayforce brings in information from multiple sources to calculate the values generated:
- Imported values, such as sales recorded by a location’s point-of-sale machines, or information recorded by time clocks.
- Inputted targets, such as a weekly sales goal of $20,000 that has been defined by head office.
- Lookup tables, which provide values based on observed patterns of data that can’t be calculated arithmetically.
- Derived through calculations, such as the budgeted labor cost, which is calculated by multiplying the sales by the payroll percentage.
- Defined patterns, such as a seven day pattern for different sales targets that repeats weekly.
These values are calculated and displayed under these forma columns in Plan:
- Target: Shows the inputted targets that the location aims to meet for the current week. See Plan Targets.
- Forecast: Shows the projected results for the week, based on the forecast calculation that is configured. See Set Up the Forecasting Engine.
- Manager Adjust: Shows forecasted totals that managers or other users with appropriate access can adjust, if the column is configured to allow adjustments.
- Schedule: Shows the projected figures based on the information drawn from the Schedules feature for the week.
- Actual: Shows the actual figures achieved and recorded by the location for the week.
- Ideal: Shows the ideal figures calculated using actual KPI data for the week.
