In Org Setup > Jobs and Job Assignments, in the Pay Grades tab, you can configure the job factor point system. Using this functionality, you can rank jobs in terms of difficulty or importance to assign them to an appropriate pay grade.
Before You Begin: Dayforce can handle pay grade functionality in two ways: through the job factor point system (which is described in this section) or the standard pay grade functionality. To use the job factor point system, you must enable the Pay Grade - Use Job Factor Point System client property in the Properties tab of System Admin > Client Properties. See Pay Grade Configuration.
You can rank jobs based on a score for a variety of job factors, such as accountability or product knowledge. The higher the score a job earns on all of the job factors you track, the higher job grade it belongs to. The higher the job grade, the higher the pay grade you'd assign to the job so that employees working it earn higher pay rates. Pay grades also help managers determine whether their staff are over- or underpaid by comparing an employee's rate to their pay grade's rates.
Classifying jobs using this system involves the following:
- Defining job grades, which group jobs that qualify for the same pay grade, based on job scores.
- Defining pay grade groups, which group employees who are eligible for the same pay grades, based on pay type and pay class.
- Defining pay grades, which define minimum and maximum pay rates eligible employees should earn for working qualifying jobs.
- Defining job factors, which are the aspects of jobs your organization tracks.
- Scoring jobs against their job factors.
