Setting | Description |

General (Section) | |
Name | The job assignment name. |
Description | A description of the job. For example, additional identifiers like cost center or department. |
Effective From | The date at which the job assignment is available to assign to employees, for example, in the Job Assignment field of the New Hire form. The current date is selected by default. The date you enter can’t be earlier than the effective date of the job that it is under. After you save the job assignment, this field can no longer be edited. |
Effective To | The date at which the job assignment is no longer available to assign to employees. |
Reference Code | A cross-reference code for the job assignment. Reference codes are used to export data to other applications. These codes must be unique and must not contain special characters. |
Position Term | One or more position terms to include only employees with those terms. Position terms are configured in the Position Term tab of Org Setup > Jobs and Job Assignments. This selection is populated when users select this job assignment in the Job Requisition form, but users filling out the form can still change the selection. See Create Position Terms. |
Ledger Code | The ledger code for the job assignment. This functionality is applicable only for organizations that use the Payroll module. Dayforce can associate the pay amounts for each job assignment with the appropriate general ledger account and this information can be exported with the Payroll GL Export task. |
Clock Code | The numerical code that represents the job assignment on clocks. Depending on configuration, the hardware clocks that employees use to clock in and out for work can be used to record job transfers, which are when an employee spends time working outside of their primary job assignment. The clock code is the number that an employee enters on the clock's number pad when transferring to that job assignment. |
Skills (section) Note: This service uses the ESCO classification of the European Commission. |

Expected proficiency | The proficiency level that employees in the role are expected to have. |
Assignments (section) | |
Department |
The generic department value, such as Sales or Produce, where the job assignment is worked. See Departments Overview. Note: For a job assignment to be worked at an org unit, that org unit must also be included in the head count allocations. This is defined in theHeadcount Allocations sub-section, which is described in the next row. |
Headcount Allocations (subsection) |
Required subsection that includes a list for creating head count allocations, which are used in combination with the Department drop-down list of the job assignment settings to define which org units a job assignment can be worked in. You must create at least one head count allocation record. In these records you can define the applicable org units, the effective start and end date of the allocation, and other details. Note: Only active head count allocations are shown in the list by default, but you can click All at the top right of the list to include end-dated or future-dated allocations as well. |
Location |
The org unit. When you select an org unit, the job assignment can be worked at that location and all locations below it in the organizational hierarchy. For example, you can select the location at the top of your organizational hierarchy to make the job assignment available at all of your organization's locations. Note: For a job assignment to be worked at an org unit, the org unit and job assignment must have the same department defined. Job assignments are assigned a department in the Department drop-down list. |
Effective From |
The date at which the job assignment is available to assign to employees at the locations below it. |
Effective To |
The date at which the job assignment is no longer available to assign to employees at the locations below it. |
Budget |
The number of employees that should be assigned to the job assignment. If the Limit Work Assignments by Budget client property in the General section of the Properties tab in System Admin > Client Properties is enabled, and the limit entered in the Budget field is reached for the location, the job assignment isn’t available to assign to the employee in the following areas:
For example, if a job assignment’s limit is reached for the location that you select in the Location and Job Assignment section of the New Hire form, that job assignment isn’t available to select. |
Actual |
Shows the number of active employees that have this job assignment in their primary work assignment. |
Actual (Secondary Only) |
Shows the number of active employees that have the job assignment as their secondary work assignment. |
Managing Job Assignments |
The job assignment that configures the management by job assignment functionality. Employees who are assigned the job assignment you are configuring as their primary job assignment will report to the managing job assignment. Note: Job Assignment management is determined by location. To define job assignment hierarchy for a job assignment that is used at multiple locations, each location must be configured individually. See Management by Job Assignment Overview. |
Compensation Details (Section) | |
Pay Group | A default pay group that is populated when users select this job assignment in forms like the New Hire form and Job Requisition form. Users filling out the form can still change the selection. Pay groups are country-specific values that describe aspects of the pay cycle for a group of employees and are configured in Pay Setup > Pay Group. |
Pay Type | A default pay type that is populated when users select this job assignment in forms like the New Hire form and Job Requisition form. Users filling out the form can still change the selection. Pay types are types of payment methods like salaried or hourly and are configured in HR Admin > Pay Type. |
Pay Class | A default pay class that is populated when users select this job assignment in forms like the New Hire form and Job Requisition form. Users filling out the form can still change the selection. Pay classes are categories of employment like part-time or full-time and are configured in HR Admin > Pay Class. |
Default Target Bonus (%) | The percentage that defines the target bonus for all employees in the job assignment. This value is used by the Compensation module. See “Configure Target Bonuses” in the Compensation Guide. |
Normal Weekly Hours | The default normal weekly hours that are populated in the corresponding field when users select this job assignment in forms like the New Hire form and Job Requisition form. Users filling out the form can change the selection. |
Average Daily Hours | The default average daily hours that are populated in the corresponding field when users select this job assignment in forms like the Job Requisition Form. Users filling out the form can still change the selection. |
Full Time Equivalent | A numerical value between 0.00 and 1.00 that represents the workload associated with the job assignment. For example, a value of 1.00 represents a full-time job assignment, while a value of 0.50 represents half-time. This value is populated in the corresponding field when users select this job assignment in forms like the New Hire form and Job Requisition form. Users filling out the form can still change the selection. |
Normal Semi Monthly Hours (Top) | The default hours for the respective first (top) and second (bottom) halves of the month. The values that you enter are populated in the corresponding fields when users select this job assignment in forms like the Job Requisition Form. Users filling out the form can still change the selection. |

Standard Cost Rate | The pay rate that Dayforce uses as the hourly rate for unfilled shifts that are associated with the job assignment when users create schedules. |

Employment Indicator | The default employment indicator to be populated when users select this job assignment in forms like the Job Requisition form. Users filling out the form can still change the selection. See Create Employment Indicators. |
Workers Comp Exempt | The checkbox to exempt the job assignment from the workers comp defined for the job that the job assignment belongs to, and that is listed in the Workers Comp section of the job's details. |
Officer | Indicates that the associated job assignment is an officer type. |
Executive | Indicates that the associated job assignment is an executive type. |
PPACA Full Time |
