When you assign a job assignment to an employee in an HR form, Dayforce automatically populates default values configured for that job assignment into the settings of the form. However, you can still edit these settings if needed.
For example, if you're filling out the New Hire form and you select a job assignment that has a default pay group configured, the Pay Group drop-down list in the form is automatically populated with that pay group.
Depending on configuration, job assignment defaults can be populated for the following fields in forms:
- Average Daily Hours
- Employment Indicator
- Full Time Equivalent
- Normal Semi Monthly Hours (Top)
- Normal Semi Monthly Hours (Bottom)
- Normal Weekly Hours
- Pay Group
- Pay Type
- Pay Class
Additionally, when you update an employee’s existing job assignment in a form (for example, the Job Assignment and Compensation Change form), and the default values for the new job assignment are different from the values of the old job assignment, Dayforce shows a confirmation dialog box where you can review the old and new values. You can select the radio button in the Before column to keep the old values:
When you click OK, the selections are applied and you can continue filling out the form.
Job Assignment defaults are only populated in a form when you add or update the job assignment of an employee’s primary work assignment. They aren't applied when you add or update a secondary work assignment in a form like the Job Assignment Change form.
You can configure job assignment defaults in the Compensation Details and Additional Details sections of the Jobs and Job Assignments tab in Org Setup > Organization. See Jobs and Job Assignments Configuration.
