Importing Pay Zone Regions

You can update additional details for existing pay zones using the pay zones import in HR Admin > Pay Structure, in the Pay Zones tab.

Role feature access: HR Admin > HR Admin > Pay Structure > Pay Zones > Import

Currently, you can update details for the following options in the Additional Criteria drop-down list of each pay zone:

  • Zip/Postal Code
  • State/Province
  • City

Although you can import additional details for existing pay zones, you can’t import new pay zones. Instead, you must add the pay zones in the HR Admin > Pay Structure screen first.

You can import pay zones using the export file as your template. When making updates to the export file so that you can import records back to Dayforce, note the following:

  • If you’re saving a new version of the file, you can change the file name, but you must keep it in CSV format. Other formats aren’t supported.
  • The order of fields in the export file can vary from the user interface. Don’t change this order or omit field headers. If the file contains extra or missing field headers or the order of field headers is changed, Dayforce generates an error and stops the import.

When you import pay zone details, existing additional details for the pay zones in HR Admin > Pay Structure are deleted and replaced with the details specified in the import file.

For example, say you have a pay zone called CANAverage and it has the following additional criteria:

Zone Criteria list of zip code wildcards.

You set up your import file as follows, to add T4X* and K0H* to the CANAverage pay zone:

Import file showing CANAverage pay zone zip code wildcards.

Because you didn’t include K1S* in the import file, after the file imports successfully, the CANAverage pay zone’s additional criteria is updated as follows:

Zone Criteria list of updated zip code wildcards post import.

The Zone Criteria list mirrors what was in the import file. So, K1S* is deleted.
