Import and Export Pay Grade Information

You can import and export pay grades, rates, and org differentials for jobs and job assignments from the Pay Grades tab in Org Setup > Jobs and Job Assignments.

Before You Begin: To use this functionality, Dayforce must be configured to use the standard pay grade functionality rather than the job factor point system. Make sure the Pay Grade - Use Job Factor Point System client property in the Properties tab of System Admin > Client Properties isn’t selected. See Pay Grade Configuration.

Role feature access: Org Setup > Org Setup > Jobs and Job Assignments > Pay Grades > Import/Export

The Import and Export menus in the Pay Grades tab contain the following options:

  • Import Pay Grades
  • Import Pay Grade Rates
  • Import Pay Grade Org Differentials
  • Note: The Import Pay Grade Org Differentials option isn't available if your organization has pay zones configured. Instead, you can use the Pay Zone Differential Recalc background job to add differentials. See Configure the Pay Zone Differential Recalc Background Job.
  • Export Pay Grades
  • Export Pay Grade Rates
  • Export Pay Grade Org Differentials

Importing and exporting provides an alternative to manually adding or updating values in the user interface and is especially useful when working with a large number of items.

With this functionality, you can generate an export file that acts as a template, containing all of the fields for the records you want to update. Any existing records are also included in the file so that you can update them. When you're done making updates to the file, you can import it back to Dayforce to update the system.

Every time that you import or export pay grades, pay grade rates, or pay grade org differentials in Org Setup > Jobs and Job Assignments, Dayforce runs a corresponding background job for the import or export. When the job finishes, Dayforce sends a notification to Message Center. You can click the link in the notification to open the file or, if the job failed, you can go to the Job Logs tab in System Admin > Background Jobs to review the errors.

The name of the file depends on what data you are exporting. For example, it can be PayGrades.csv, PayGradeRates.csv, or PayGradeOrgDifferentials.csv.
