Import Role Configurations

You can use the import functionality to migrate role configurations from one Dayforce environment to another. For information about exporting role configurations, see Export Role Configurations.

Before You Begin: Your user role must be assigned access to the Export/Import feature in System Admin > Roles.

Note: Only users who don’t have a parent role assigned to their role can import role configurations in Dayforce. Also, the role configuration import doesn’t support the migration of system roles because they can't be edited and are standard across all Dayforce environments.

To import role configurations:

  1. Go to System Admin > Roles.
  2. Click Import. The Import Role File dialog box opens.
  3. Click Select File. The file can't be larger than 10 MB.
  4. In your computer's file directory, select the role configuration .dat file you want to import and then click Open.
  5. Important: It’s your responsibility to make sure that the file you’re importing is from a trusted source.
  6. Click Upload. When Dayforce completes the uploading process, close the dialog box.

Make sure that the role configuration is correct after importing the file, and that all changes were applied as expected.

Note: The import role configuration feature doesn't support migrating custom V2 reports and workflows setup in Workflow Administration > Role Privileges. The migration of standard fixed-format reports and standard ad hoc reports is supported in the import role configurations feature.
