Import Ad Hoc Reports

Before You Begin: Only users with access to the report designer can upload a report for import.

Dayforce can only import V2 reports that are in DAT format from the reporting landing page in Reporting and Analytics > Reporting > Classic Reports. You can use the Import button to migrate a report from one environment to another as well as import a report that was created by another user. This capability allows the Dayforce support team, along with other customers, to share reports with you.

Note: If you import a report that was exported from an environment apart from your own, all of the filter and parameter values are removed from the report.

When a report is imported, it’s analyzed for common problems and returns information about any errors that are found, including:

  • Invalid file format. The file selected to be uploaded must be in DAT format.
  • File exceeds size limit. Currently, the size of the selected file can't exceed 2MB. Any file that exceeds this size limit can't be imported.
  • Failed malware scan. A malware scan is conducted to ensure that no malicious software is introduced to Dayforce by importing a report.
  • Missing file. A file hasn’t been selected for import.

To import an ad hoc report:

  1. Go to Reporting and Analytics > Reporting > Classic Reports.
  2. Click Import.
  3. Important: It’s your responsibility to ensure that the file you’re importing is from a trusted source. Failing to do this can result in a potential security breach.
  4. In the Import Report dialog box, click Select file and select the file you want to import.
  5. Click Upload.
  6. Note: An error notification is shown if Dayforce detects a schema change in a report that you selected for import. The notification will either indicate that the report output will be updated to reflect the changes in the schema or you will be instructed to update the relationship of the affected fields.

After the report is imported, it’s shown in the report designer in a new tab. Ensure that the report output appears as expected. Reports that are imported from a different environment might not produce the same results in your environment.
