After you configure minimum and maximum staffing functionality in Dayforce, you can view minimum and maximum staffing requirements as labor demands curves in the Schedules feature.
Minimum Staffing Requirement
When configured, Dayforce shows minimum staffing requirements as a new labor demand curve in Schedules. For each quarter-hour that Dayforce shows when the requirement is met (showing a green bar in the quarter-hour) or understaffed (showing a yellow bar in the quarter-hour):
In this example, Dayforce is configured with a minimum staffing requirement that at least one employee assigned a job assignment in the Sales job assignment set is scheduled from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM each day.
The sales associate scheduled from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM has been assigned a job assignment in the Sales job assignment set. As a result, the associate contributes to the requirement when scheduled. During this time, the requirement is met and Dayforce shows a green bar for each quarter hour. The time where the requirement hasn’t been met is marked in yellow, representing that the location is understaffed for that minimum staffing requirement.
In this example, Dayforce shows the label Including: Sales on the labor demand curve because the Sales job assignment set was selected in the Qualified for a job assignment in drop-down list in the Non-Work Staffing Rule creating the labor demand.
Depending on what drives the minimum staffing requirement, Dayforce shows different labels on the corresponding labor demand curve in Schedules. With a value selected from the Skill drop-down list, Dayforce shows the skill employees must be assigned to satisfy the minimum staffing requirement:
The same shift doesn’t contribute to the minimum staffing requirement that requires one employee with the Keyholder skill assigned to them. When Schedules shows the labor demand curve for this minimum staffing requirement, it labels the demand curve Skill: Keyholder.
Also, with a value selected in the Not qualified for any job assignment in drop-down list, Dayforce shows the job assignment set employees must not belong to:
Maximum Staffing Requirement
Similar to minimum staffing, Dayforce shows maximum staffing requirements as a new labor demand curve in the Schedules Bar View. To show the curve, click the coverage icon () and select the coverage.
When Dayforce shows maximum staffing requirements in Schedules, it highlights in red when users schedule beyond the defined maximum:
In this example, the rule has been defined with a maximum staffing requirement of three employees but four have been scheduled for a portion of the day. As a result, the labor demand curve is red during those times when four employees are scheduled.
Because maximum staffing requirements define a maximum and not the ideal staffing level, Dayforce doesn’t consider scheduling a number of employees under this maximum as understaffing. The curve is displayed all in green, without the yellow highlight shown during times when the location is understaffed.
