HMRC GovTalk Submission

When a user completes the validation step for a pay run for a UK legal entity, Dayforce automatically runs the HMRC GovTalk Submission background job, producing an FPS file to HMRC for validation prior to the live submission.

In the event of a filing failure (for example, due to network issues), users with necessary access can run the HMRC GovTalk Submission background job independently of payroll commit, in System Admin > Background Jobs. Manually running this job is only for the actual submission to HMRC rather than production of the files, because these have already been produced from the pay run commit (FPS file) or submission (EPS file).

This job has the following settings:

  • Apply from Last Run: Click this button to apply settings from the last run of this background job.
  • Apply from Last Scheduled Run: Click this button to apply settings from the last run of the scheduled background job.
  • Validate Only: Select this checkbox to validate only.
  • GovTalk Data Type:
    • FPS: Select for Full Payment Submissions.
    • EXB: Select for P11D/P11D(b) submissions.
  • Command Type: Select the type of request you’re submitting in this drop-down list:
    • SUBMISSION_REQUEST: Initial message to the transaction system with FPS or EXB data.
    • DELETE_REQUEST: Used after the transaction system has sent a Business/Business Error response to a SUBMISSION_REQUEST. Best practice is to include the correlation ID (described later in this list).
  • Legal Entity: Select a specific legal entity for the background job to include.
  • PRPayRunId: Enter the pay run ID.
  • Run For Batch Number: Enter a specific batch number or leave blank to include all.
  • Correlation Id: Specifies the message to be deleted. This must match the value from the Business/Business Error response.
  • Filing Period Id: Enter the filing period ID from a previously run background job here.

Notification
