General Retirement Plan Settings

In the General tab of a retirement plan in Benefits Setup > Plans and Options, you can configure the settings:

Field Description

Published

When selected, the plan will be available to employees during enrollment after you have added options. You can set up a plan to be published later.

Name

The display name of the plan.

Description

Description of the plan. Dayforce doesn't show the description to employees during enrollment.

Reference Code

The ID used in import files to properly import employee benefits. Cross-reference codes are used to import and export data to and from Dayforce and other applications.

Plan Sub Type

Retirement plans can have several different subtypes. These subtypes are determined by the plan type and the country in which the plan is offered. The options are:

You make this selection in the Add Plan dialog box (before Dayforce shows the plan setup screen), but you can still update it in the General tab until you save the plan. After you’ve saved the plan, you can't change this selection.

Carrier

The carrier associated with the plan. If you plan to add waive options under the plan, don’t associate it with a carrier. See Waive Options.

Plan Code

The plan code that identifies the plan with the associated carrier.

Policy Number

The policy number that identifies the plan with the associated carrier.

Effective From

The policy number that identifies the plan with the associated carrier.

Effective To

The last date that the plan is available to employees.

Inception Date

The first date that the plan was originally offered. The inception date can't be after the plan's effective from date.

Termination Date

The date after which the plan is no longer offered.

Plan Year Date Type

Determines whether the plan year date is the same, year over year, or is specific to one calendar year. The options are:

  • Fixed: The date includes a month, day, and year.
  • Relative: The date only includes a month and a day.

Plan Year Start Date

The first day of the plan year. All plans associated with a carrier must have the same plan year start date.

Plan Year End Date

The last day of the plan year. All plans associated with a carrier must have the same plan year end date.

High Deductible

The plan is considered a high deductible plan.

Subject to Section 125

The plan is subject to Section 125 regulations.

Note: Dayforce shows this field for plans based only in the United States.

Automatic Re-Enrollment Allowed

Dayforce allows employees and their dependents to automatically re-enroll in the benefits plan, if rehired within a specific duration. This duration is configured in the Enable the use of the 'Subject To Re-enrollment' parameter for benefit plans (Days) field under Benefits in the Properties tab of System Admin > Client Properties and this checkbox shows only if the field is configured. See Benefits.

Subject to Flex Credit Benefit

The plan is subject to flex credit benefits. Plans with this checkbox selected apply to mobile and web enrollments in Canada. When selected, employees can allocate their remaining flex credit amounts to the retirement plan options during enrollment. This checkbox shows only if your user role has access to the role feature.
