General Life and Disability Plan Settings

In the General tab of a life and disability plan in Benefits Setup > Plans and Options, you can configure the settings.

Field Description

Published

The plan is available to employees during enrollment after adding options. You can set up a plan to be published later.

Name

The display name of the plan.

Description

Description of the plan. Dayforce doesn't show the description to employees during enrollment.

Reference Code

The ID used in import files to import employee benefits. Cross-reference codes are used to import and export data to and from Dayforce and other applications.

Plan Sub Type

Life and disability plans can have several different subtypes. These subtypes are determined by the plan type and the country in which the plan is offered. The options are:

You can update this field even if you selected the plan subtype when adding the plan. After saving the plan, you can't change this selection.

Carrier

The carrier associated with the plan. If you want to add waive options under the plan, don’t associate it with a carrier. See Waive Options.

Plan Code

The plan code that identifies the plan with the associated carrier.

Policy Number

The policy number that identifies the plan with the associated carrier.

Effective From

The date from when the plan is available to employees.

Effective To

The date until when the plan is available to employees.

Inception Date

The first date that the plan was originally offered. The inception date can't be after the plan's effective from date.

Termination Date

The date after which the plan is no longer offered.

Plan Year Date Type

Determines whether the plan year date is the same, year over year, or is specific to one calendar year. The options are:

  • Fixed: The date includes a month, day, and year.
  • Relative: The date only includes a month and a day.

Plan Year Start Date

The first day of the plan year. All plans associated with a carrier must have the same start date for the plan year.

Plan Year End Date

The last day of the plan year. All plans associated with a carrier must have the same end date for the plan year.

High Deductible

The plan is considered a high deductible plan.

Self Insured

The plan is insured by your organization.

Apply Imputed Income

The plan is subject to imputed income for individuals enrolled in the plan with coverage more than $50,000.

Note: Dayforce shows this field for plans based only in the United States.

Subject to Dependent Verification

Employees must upload supporting documents to verify their dependents covered in the benefits plan if the relationship type is configured as needs verification.

Automatic Re-Enrollment Allowed

Employees and their dependents automatically reenroll in the benefits plan, if rehired in a specific duration. This duration is configured in the Enable the use of the 'Subject To Re-enrollment' parameter for benefit plans (Days) field under Benefits in the Properties tab of System Admin > Client Properties and this checkbox shows only if the field is configured. See Benefits.

Subject to Flex Credit Benefit

The plan is subject to flex credit benefits. When selected, employees can use the credit amounts configured for the flex credit plans towards the annual cost of the benefit plans. Plans with this checkbox selected apply to mobile and web enrollments in Canada. This checkbox shows only if your user role has access to the role feature.

Flex Credit Plans

Shows when you select the Subject to Flex Credit Benefit checkbox. Select one or more flex credit plans to associate with the benefit plan. You can select published flex credit plans with the plan year start and end dates that match the plan year start and end dates of the benefits plan.
