In the General Information tab, set the following properties:
- First Name
- Middle Name
- Last Name
- Relationship Type
- Nationality
- Dependent
- Active Dependent
- Beneficiary
- Active Beneficiary
The First Name, Last Name, and Relationship Type fields, and a dependent or beneficiary selection are required.
Select the Dependent checkbox and Dayforce defines that person as a dependent; select the Active Dependent checkbox, and Dayforce makes that dependent available in forms, enrollments, and in Benefits Administration.
When you first set up a dependent and select the corresponding checkbox, Dayforce automatically selects the Active Dependent checkbox as well. You can clear the Active selection if you don’t want Dayforce to make that dependent available in benefits areas.
The same applies to the Beneficiary and Active Beneficiary checkboxes.
The Beneficiary Information screen of mobile and web enrollments show active dependents in the Dependents section. Employees can select active dependents as primary or contingent beneficiaries in the life and disability election screens. If they don’t select an active dependent as a primary or contingent beneficiary, Dayforce updates the active dependent as a beneficiary and an active beneficiary.
After a dependent is associated with an active election
If a dependent has an active spouse coverage verification record (that is, one with the value "Yes") in Dayforce, you can’t clear the Active Dependent checkbox; you must end that coverage record first. You can view or update this record in the Benefits > Spouse Coverage Verification screen of the employee's profile.
For employees in Singapore, the Nationality of their dependents is used to determine the amount of parental leave the employee is entitled to.
