GL Splits

Before You Begin: To use the Payroll > GL Splits screen of People, the allocation source in GL allocation configuration must have GL metric codes set as an additional allocation level. This is defined in the Allocations subtab under the Allocations and Accruals tab of Payroll Setup > General Ledger by selecting GL Metric Code in the Additional Allocation Level drop-down list.

In the Payroll > GL Splits screen of People for a selected employee, you can view and maintain the percent allocation applied to user-defined labor metrics. This information impacts payroll accumulations that are used for general ledger reporting. There are two types of splits you can define:

  • Org based split: Defines a percent allocation for specific work assignments.
  • Non-org based split: Defines a percent allocation that isn't assigned to a specific work assignment. In this case, Dayforce applies the allocation to all work assignments that don't have a specific split defined.

When you select a record, or add a record, in the GL Splits screen, Dayforce expands settings that are divided into the General and Split subsections.

In the General subsection, the Work Assignment drop-down list shows Non-Org Based Split by default.

  • If you leave this option selected, Dayforce applies the allocation to all work assignments that don't have a specific split defined.
  • You can select one of the employee's work assignments in the Work Assignment drop-down list for Dayforce to apply the allocation to that work assignment only.

When you add a split-set in the Splits subsection, click in the Labor Metrics column for Dayforce to show an icon for assigning labor metrics:

Under the Split subsection, an icon is displayed when a mouse is hovered over the Labor Metrics column.

Selecting this icon opens a dialog box where you can assign a labor metric from one or more of the labor metric types that your organization has defined:

Dialog box is shown with labor metric types defined.

The Split subsection also includes the following columns:

  • Labor Percent: Required field. Enter a percentage for each split-set. The total labor percentage of the split sets must equal 100%.
  • Primary: Required checkbox. Select for one of the split-sets.
  • Final Split Percent: Read-only field. Auto-populated for the split-set based on what you enter in the Labor Percent field.
