Multifactor authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security by requesting a code along with your user name and password. This code changes every time you log in and is only valid for a short time after it's generated. After your organization enables Dayforce MFA for your user role, you need to set up MFA the next time you log in.
Before You Begin: An administrator must enable MFA for your organization. See Configure Multifactor Authentication for Your Organization.
To log in with Dayforce Multifactor Authentication for the first time:
- Go to your organization's Dayforce login screen and enter your login information.
- In the Multifactor Authentication Setup screen, select an authentication method to use when logging in:
- SMS Text Message or Voice Call: Set up MFA using your mobile device. A 6-digit code will be sent to your mobile device through either a text message or a voice call. This code is used to verify your identity when you log in to Dayforce.
- Authenticator App Code: Set up MFA using an authentication app of your choice. A time-based one-time password will be generated by your authentication app that you use to log in to Dayforce.
- Email: Set up MFA using an email address of your choice. A time-based one-time password will be sent to your email that you use to log in to Dayforce.
- Note: If you choose to receive the verification code by text message, you’ll receive the text message in the language according to your culture setting in Dayforce. If the language in your culture settings isn’t supported, Dayforce sends the SMS message in English (US).
- Click Next.
To continue the log-in process, see the following steps and procedures defined for the authentication method that you selected:
- If you selected SMS Text Message or Voice Call, see Set Up Multifactor Authentication Using the SMS Text Message or Voice Call Option.
- If you selected Authenticator App Code, see Set Up Multifactor Authentication Using the Authenticator App Option.
- If you selected Email, see Set Up Multifactor Authentication Using the Email Option.
