Export Role Configurations

Exporting role configurations allows you to migrate role configurations from one Dayforce environment to another. For information about importing role configurations, see Import Role Configurations.

Before You Begin: Your user role must be assigned access to the Export/Import feature in System Admin > Roles.

Note: Only users who don't have a parent role assigned to their role can use the export role configuration feature in Dayforce. Additionally, the migration of system roles isn't supported by the export role configuration feature, because they can't be edited and are standard across all Dayforce environments.

To export role configurations:

  1. Go to System Admin > Roles.
  2. Click Export. The Export Role dialog box opens.
  3. Note: The file size can't exceed 10mb.
  4. In the Roles selection list, select one or more roles.
  5. Click Download. The role configuration details are downloaded as a .dat file.

Note: The export role configuration feature doesn't support the ability to migrate custom V2 reports and workflows setup in Workflow Administration > Role Privileges. The migration of standard fixed format reports and standard ad hoc reports is supported in the export role configurations feature.
