Before You Begin: For more information on HR Events, see HR Event Configuration.
You can configure the HR Import to trigger HR events for new hires, rehires, and job assignment or location changes (in the primary work assignment only), enabling the system to perform required actions automatically through a workflow process. For example, the triggered workflows can send manager notifications and benefit eligibility reassessment and enrollments.
The HR Import can trigger the following HR events:
- New Hire/Rehire: The import can trigger this event when it contains new hires or rehires.
- Assignment Changed: The import can trigger this event when it contains changes to the job assignment or location of a primary work assignment.
With this functionality, the HR Import can trigger these events independent of the Benefits HR Event Generator job, which is a background job that can be configured to trigger HR events based on changes to an employee’s profile.
However, because the HR Import only triggers events in the case of new hires, rehires, and primary job assignment and location changes, you still need to run the Benefits HR Event generator job to track other changes from the import that should trigger an HR event, such as changes to pay.
If the HR import triggers events, the Benefits HR Generator doesn’t duplicate the events for the same changes.
Note: The ability to trigger HR events is also available for the Recruiting Import. However, the functionality described in this section is separate and applies only to the HR Import.
