When employees start or change jobs, Revenue sends a Tax Credit Certificate (TCC) to the employee and a Revenue Payroll Notification (RPN) to their employer. Employers must retrieve an up to date RPN for each employee before they can process payroll.
In Dayforce, administrators can run the Revenue RPN background job in System Admin > Background Jobs to retrieve and apply the latest RPNs from Revenue. The Revenue RPN background job performs the following actions:
- The background job matches the latest RPN to the employee using the PPSN number and employee ID number.
- If a successful match is found, the application checks to see if the RPN number already exists in Dayforce: if it does exist, no update is made.
- If the RPN number doesn't exist, the information in the RPN is added to the employee record in the People feature, in the Payroll > Tax Definitions and the Personal > Confidential Information screens.
For more information about the RPN History Report, see the Ad Hoc Reporting Guide.
For details about how the RPNs are used to determine tax liabilities for employees, see Ireland Payroll Taxation.
The record of an RPN for an employee can be viewed in the Revenue Payroll Notification (RPN) section of the Payroll > Tax Definitions screen in the People feature.
