Employee qualifiers are used to restrict a set of mappings or a rule or ruleset to specific employees. Dayforce maps eligible time to earning definitions, or it applies associated rules only to those employees who meet the qualifier's conditions, such as employees born or hired before or after a certain date, employees that work full-time, or employees who are paid hourly.
For example, you might use the qualifier to map only certain pay codes to the regular pay earning definition for full-time salaried employees by adding the Employee Qualifier to the appropriate Earning Mapping Rule.
Qualify Daily
Select this checkbox to configure the qualifier to check for employee pay type daily, rather than the default behavior of only running at the end of the pay period. This change allows the application to include earnings for employees that changed their pay type part way through the pay period.
Important: Selecting the Qualify Daily checkbox might affect the application's performance when calculating payroll. When you select the Qualify Daily checkbox, then each time that payroll calculates, the application checks the pay type for each employee in the pay group on each day of the pay period, as opposed to only checking their pay type at the end of the pay period.

Min expected pay period mins, Max expected pay period mins
Enter a specific number that an employee is expected to work for the pay period in either the Min expected pay period mins field, the Max expected pay period mins field, or both fields. The application examines the employee's HR record and compares it against the value specified to determine if the employee qualifies based on the employee's pay frequency:
- For weekly pay periods, the application uses the value specified in the Normal Weekly Hours field in the Employment > Employment Settings screen in People.
- For biweekly pay periods, the application uses the value specified in the Normal Weekly Hours field, multiplied by two.
- For semi-monthly pay periods, the application uses the value specified in the Normal Semi Monthly Hours (Top) field in the Employment > Employment Settings screen in People for the first or top half of the month. If it is the second half of the month, it uses the values from the Semi Monthly Hours (Bottom) field.
- For monthly pay periods, the application uses the value of the Normal Semi Monthly Hours (Top) field plus the value of the Semi Monthly Hours (Bottom) field.
For example, say you entered 1800 in the Min expected pay period mins field and 3000 in the Max expected pay period mins field. An employee belonging to a pay group with a weekly pay frequency who has a value of 60 in the Normal Weekly Hours field on their employee records wouldn’t qualify because the number of minutes they are expected to work in the week is above the maximum threshold. However, an employee belonging to the same pay group who has 40 in the Normal Weekly Hours field in their employee records will qualify, in which case the associated mapping are applied.
