Employee Date Qualifier Example

The following section shows how to correctly configure the Employee Date Qualifier to avoid errors when awarding entitlements. These examples demonstrate how the value entered in the Start On or After Month field should always be less than the value entered in the Start Before Month field. Similarly, the value entered in the Start On or After Day of Month field should be less than the value entered in the Start Before Day of Month field, unless the Start Before Month value is greater than the Start On or After Month value.

Example 1

Consider a scenario where you intend to qualify employees who have a start date in December. In this case, the following configurations can be used:

Settings and their configurations
Setting Configuration
Start Date Employee Hire Date
Start On or After Month 12
Start On or After Day of Month 1
Start Before Month 13
Start Before Day of Month 1

Example 2

Consider another example where the values entered for the Start Before Month and Start Before Day of Month fields are in the following year. In this scenario, you intend for employees to be qualified if their start date is between December 1 and March 31. In this case, there should be one rule or level with this qualifier per calendar year as indicated below:

Qualifier for current calendar year:

Settings and their configurations
Setting Configuration
Start Date Employee Hire Date
Start On or After Month 12
Start On or After Day of Month 1
Start Before Month 13
Start Before Day of Month 1

Qualifier for next calendar year:

Settings and their configurations
Setting Configuration
Start On or After Month 1
Start On or After Day of Month 1
Start Before Month 3
Start Before Day of Month 31

These configurations will ensure that the qualifier successfully awards entitlements to the qualifying employees.
