Earnings and Deductions in Payroll Setup

Earnings and deductions are set up in Payroll Setup > Earnings and Deductions. There are four tabs available:

Toolstrip buttons in the tabs in Payroll Setup > Earnings and Deductions
Button Description
Save Click to save your updates to the earning, deduction, or tax and compliance rule.
Refresh Click to update the data displayed in the tab to ensure that it is updated after you make edits.
Problems Click to open the Problems panel. Dayforce automatically displays the Problems panel when there are issues in the earning, deduction, or tax and compliance rule.
Add Click to add an earning, deduction, or tax and compliance rule configuration.
Copy Click to create another copy of the selected earning, deduction, or tax and compliance rule template, where you can make changes based on an existing item.
Delete Click to delete the selected earning, deduction, or tax and compliance rule from the list.
Sequence (Available in the Earnings and Deductions tabs only.) Click to open a dialog box where you can modify the order in which an earning or deduction is applied within a single payroll policy.
Manage Countries Click to open the Manage Countries dialog box where you can add or remove countries to or from an existing earning or deduction. The dialog box shows which countries are currently associated with an earning or deduction. You cannot remove countries with committed payroll data for an earning or deduction. These countries are indicated with a lock icon.
Localize Click to open a dialog box where you can add a name and description in a different language to an earning, deduction, or tax and compliance item.
