Dayforce uses Duo Security, a third-party provider, as one option for two-factor authentication. To use this functionality, organizations need to create an account with Duo. The type of account depends on the size of the organization. This is determined between Duo Security and the organization.
Note: Dayforce doesn't administer Duo accounts on behalf of its customers. Customers must create an account with Duo and maintain it themselves to use two-factor authentication.
Administrators have access to a dashboard within their Duo account, where they can perform a number of tasks including managing their enrolled users and customizing Duo's guided process.

One concern of integrating with a third party during the login process is that Dayforce is subject to that third party’s availability. If the third party is offline, then Dayforce might be inaccessible (see the section below regarding Fail Open vs. Fail Closed).
Duo publishes their SLA at https://www.duosecurity.com/sla. Per Mathew Varghese of Duo, their uptime since inception is 99.995%. They have made improvements recently to increase uptime, such as now being able to do upgrades without taking the system offline.
