Create Job Assignments

Note: For more information about how to configure the settings described in the steps below, see Job Assignment Settings.

Note the following before you begin:

  • You need to create one or more jobs that job assignments are contained under. See Create Jobs.
  • You can import job assignments instead of manually adding them. See Org Setup Import and Export Configuration.
  • If your organization uses the Career Explorer feature, a list of skills is automatically populated for each job assignment based on the job assignment title, job assignment description (if available) or job-level description, and any existing job posting details. For new job assignments, these skills are populated automatically after you click Save. However, it might take some time for the skills to be shown. You can update, add, or delete the populated skills, as needed. You can also refresh the populated skills by clicking the Refresh skills button in the Skills section.

To create a job assignment:

  1. Go to Org Setup > Jobs and Job Assignments and click the Jobs and Job Assignments tab.
  2. In the left sidebar, expand the job family that contains the job that you want to add the job assignment to. Jobs without a job family are listed below No Job Family.
  3. Select the job that you want to add the job assignment to and, in the toolstrip, click Add > Add Job Assignment.
  4. In the General section of the job assignment details:
    1. Enter a name and reference code.
    2. Enter a date in the Effective From field and, optionally, the Effective To field.
    3. Configure additional settings as needed.
  5. (Optional) In the Skills section, add one or more skills for the job assignment:
    1. Click Add.
    2. In the Skill Name field, search for and then select a skill that's required for the job.
    3. (Optional) In the Expected proficiency drop-down list, select the proficiency level that employees in the role are expected to have.
  6. Note: This service uses the ESCO classification of the European Commission. Custom skills and proficiency levels aren’t supported.

  7. In the Assignments section, in the Department drop-down list, select an option.
  8. Also in the Assignments section, add at least one record to the Headcount Allocations subsection:
    1. Click Add.
    2. In the Location drop-down list, select an org unit.
    3. Enter a date in the Effective From field and, optionally, the Effective To field.
    4. Configure the other settings of the allocation as needed.
  9. In the Compensation Details and Additional Details sections, configure the settings as needed.
  10. (Optional) In the Job Assignment Description section, add content to the text editor.
  11. Click Save.
