To configure the Work Patterns Rule:
- Go to Schedule Setup > Schedule Rule Policy.
- Select a schedule rule policy. Dayforce shows the policy’s details in the slide-out panel.
- In the Rule Set Configuration section, select a ruleset.
- Click the add icon (
) and select Rule.
- In the Type drop-down list, select Work Patterns Rule.
- Enter a name and, optionally, a description for the rule.
- In the Severity drop-down list, specify the severity level Dayforce assigns shifts that violate this rule. The following options are available:
- Critical: Dayforce marks the shift with a problem icon (
) and shows a critical alert in the Problems panel. You can’t save the schedule until you correct this problem.
- Error: Dayforce marks the shift with a problem icon (
) and shows an error alert in the Problems panel. You’re alerted that the problem should be fixed, but you can still save the schedule without correcting it.
- Informational: Dayforce marks the shift with an informational icon (
) and shows an informational alert in the Problems panel. You’re informed of the availability violation, but no action is required or expected.
- Warning: Dayforce marks the shift with a warning icon (
) and shows a warning alert in the Problems panel. You’re alerted about the availability violation, but you can still save the schedule without correcting it.
- Critical: Dayforce marks the shift with a problem icon (
- In the Include Work Pattern Shift Types selection list, specify which shift types the rule validates.
- To specify which shift properties the rule validates, do any of the following:
- To validate unpaid meals and breaks, select the Include Unpaid Meal Breaks checkbox.
- To validate that the job assignment assigned to shifts match the one specified in the employee's work pattern, select the Validate Job Assignment checkbox.
- To validate that the location types assigned to shifts match the ones specified in the employee's work pattern, select the Validate Org Location Type checkbox.
- To validate that the org units assigned to shifts match the ones specified in the employee's work pattern, select the Validate Org Unit checkbox.
- Click Save.
Example: Configuration
An organization requires Dayforce to show a warning if an employee is scheduled outside their work pattern for shifts of any type. The organization also requires Dayforce to show a warning if a shift's unpaid meals and breaks, labor metrics, location type, or org unit don't match the ones specified in the employee's work pattern.
To configure the rule to meet these requirements:
- In the Severity drop-down list, select Warning.
- In the Include Work Pattern Shift Types selection list, select all shift types.
- Select the Include Unpaid Meal Breaks, Validate Job Assignment, Validate Org Location Type, and Validate Org Unit checkboxes.
