To configure the Contract Working Hours Rule:
- Go to Schedule Setup > Schedule Rule Policy.
- Select a schedule rule policy. Dayforce shows the policy’s details in the slide-out panel.
- In the Rule Set Configuration section, click the add icon (
) and select Rule.
- In the Type drop-down list, select Contract Working Hours Rule.
- Enter a name and, optionally, a description for the rule.
- In the Permitted Time Below Contract field, enter the maximum number of hours an employee can be scheduled below their contract hours before Dayforce marks shifts as problems.
- In the Permitted Time Above Contract field, enter the maximum number of hours an employee can be scheduled above their contract before Dayforce marks shifts as problems.
- In the Min Severity and Max Severity drop-down lists, specify the severity level that Dayforce assigns shifts that violate the values specified in the Permitted Time Below Contract and Permitted Time Above Contract fields. The following options are available:
- Critical: Dayforce marks the shift with a problem icon (
) and shows a critical alert in the Problems panel. Users cannot save the schedule until they correct this problem.
- Error: Dayforce marks the shift with a problem icon (
) and shows an error alert in the Problems panel. Users are alerted that the problem should be fixed, but they can still save the schedule without correcting it.
- Informational: Dayforce marks the shift with an informational icon (
) and shows an informational alert in the Problems panel. Users are informed of the availability violation, but no user action is required or expected; the icon represents an FYI.
- Warning: Dayforce marks the shift with a warning icon (
) and shows a warning alert in the Problems panel. Users are alerted about the availability violation, but they can still save the schedule without correcting it.
- Critical: Dayforce marks the shift with a problem icon (
- Click Save.
Example: Configuration
If you schedule employees more than four hours below their contracted amount, Dayforce shows a warning. If you schedule them to any number of hours above their contract, Dayforce shows an error.
To configure the rule for this example:
- Enter 4 in the Permitted Time Below Contract field.
- Enter 0 in the Permitted Time Above Contract field.
- In the Min Severity drop-down list, select Warning.
- In the Max Severity drop-down list, select Error.
- Click Save.
